Thank you to the jurors of the Bangor (ME) Art Society for choosing my painting, “Clear and Crisp”, as the Best Watercolor in the BAS Juried Open Show, April 2025, at the Bangor Public Library. I’m a new member and truly honored to receive this award!
This watercolor landscape painting depicts a view over Long Lake from the summit of Beech Mountain in Acadia National Park on an incredibly “clear and crisp” winter day. The bright, clear light and deep blue shadows on this sunny winter day were a delightful inspiration for me to recreate the feeling of standing at that peak, watching one’s breath and looking over the gorgeous landscape of Acadia and Mt. Desert Island. Many thanks to my friend Maureen Fournier for sharing photos of her winter adventures in the Park to use as reference for this painting. I wish I were there with you on that day!

Wow! Congratulations, Rick! What an honor!
Rick: I know that but without the snow. Is this in you collection for sale? Mary Sligar Seal Harbor

Yes, “Clear & Crisp” is available. You can find information in the Acadia-MDI Gallery of my website. Thank you for your interest!
Rick
So beautiful! I love winter scenes of Maine and the colors are so rich in your painting, as they should be…so many people think winter is bland and boring!
What a beautiful painting! Congratulations on the “Best Watercolor Award!
Well-deserved!
Well deserved Rick! That is a gorgeous piece of art my friend. You are *so gifted.
Congratulations, Rick. Your work is just beautiful.
This painting is incredibly well titled. I can feel and smell the crispness in the air and can see the far horizon so clear and crisp in the distance. The purple shadows are a stark powerful contrast to the snow and the water.
I feel the cold in a pleasant way and the silence of this crisp clear day is intense and welcome.
This painting is exquisite. The jury made a fantastic choice!
